Ride 2021 - The Victorian Round Trip - Cycle Australia
This trip brought together the best of Victoria from ocean to mountains to rivers and including the fabulous rail trails. Think of wide open beaches, wilderness, mountains, craggy cliffs, pastoral history, rivers and steamboats, unique fauna and flora, towering forests, inland lakes, and always amazing stars.
The full tour began in Melbourne departing from the iconic Luna Park and heading down famous Beach Road to Phillip Island. Then tour headed south along the South Coast with a long section on Gippsland Rail Trail. Most southerly point reached was Wilson Promontory before heading North and crossing into the Victorian Alps. The trip ended with a run along the rail trail to end in Wangaratta.
The return leg began in Wangaratta with a trip along the Murray River flat lands to Echuca. These are the secret parts of inland Victoria bringing together wilderness, mountains, craggy cliffs, settler history, unique fauna and flora, towering forests, pastoral lands, inland lakes, vineyards, lazy rivers, big blue sky, amazing stars. It also is a tour filled with history of pastoralists and river people and gold mining. From Echuca, the tour headed south through gold mining country to The Grampians and then onto the Great Ocean Road and back to Melbourne with a crossing of Port Philip Bay by ferry and the ride back to Beach Road.

- Inland VIC and Great Ocean Road: Wangaratta to Echuca to Bendigo to Halls Gap to Great Ocean Road to Melbourne: March 12, 2021 to March 29, 2021. 1,100 kms, 3,582 m climbing and 5 exploring/rest days.
